Upper Double Drive Gear Bearings

These double bearings are used on all #1 MerCruiser drives made from 1965 to 1997 including Pre-Alpha, Alpha One and Generation II drive made until 1997 except 1.32 ratios.

These bearings and races are used on drive gears which have these bearings pressed onto the gear. You will have to use your old large outer spacer but the smaller inner spacer is not used to set the preload because the preload is set by how tight you tighten the gear end locknut down drawing these 2 bearings together on the oversized gear shaft diameter.

You cannot put these bearings together and torque the nut down to 80 foot pounds even if you use your old smaller inner spacer because the inner spacer comes in different thickness'.

You can put these bearings together and torque the gear end locknut down to 80 foot pounds because the inner spacer is set at the factory to give you 6 to 10 inch pounds of preload.
