MerCruiser Gimbal Housings
Note ! All of our gimbal housings are a special order from MerCruiser. Please allow 1 week for delivery.
This is MerCruiser p/n 70862A1 gimbal housing. It was used from 1976 - 1982. Please note ! This gimbal housing has the number 65532 cast into this side of it.
These housings come with : All of the seals and needle bearings installed for a square to spline upper swivel shaft. A new gimbal bearing and grease seal installed. A plate and bolt for the trim limit switch wires. (2) studs for the trim cylinder hose manifold block ( show at the very bottom )
Shipping weight is 22 Lbs.
On the back side : The one shown here has 5 tapped holes and 3 o-rings for mounting a 3 piece y-pipe for V-8 engines. In-line engines use a different gimbal housing p/n 70861A1 with only 3 mounting holes.
This comes with : The plate and (2) bolts for mounting the 90 degree cooling water copper tubing . (2) 7/16 dia. studs which are 4 1/2" long (3) O-rings for the Y-Pipe ( collector )

This is MerCruiser p/n 94989A6 & p/n 42260A6 gimbal housing. It was used from 1983 - 1990. The one shown here has 5 tapped holes and 1 odd shaped o-ring for mounting a 1 piece y-pipe. Note! p/n 94989A6 has (2) needle bearings in the top for the steering lever. p/n 42260A6 has (2) stainless steel bushings.
