Shift Cable Bellows

This is MerCruiser Shift Cable Bellows p/n 74639A2.

It will fit all MerCruiser drives including Pre-Alpha, Alpha One, Generation II and Bravo. It comes with the small 1/2" clamp only.

To replace this bellows only on Pre-Alpha, Alpha One & Gen II drives, you must disconnect the end of the shift cable inside of the boat. The entire end of the cable must be disassembled to allow the cable to slide out of the small hole in the back of the boat.

For older boats where the cable threads in from the rear side, the bell housing must also be removed but this end of the cable can stay attached.

For newer boats where the cable threads in from the front side, you can use a long 9/16 socket to remove the cable from the bell housing and then pull the cable out. The bell housing does not have to be removed with the newer cables.
