Torque Wrench Extension

This extension is used to reach down and turn the driven gear in the upper housing on 1974 - Date MerCruiser drives including Pre-Alpha, Alpha One and Generation II. It is for measuring the preload on the driven gear bearing assembly.

We recommend leaving out the 2 seals below the driven gear when taking this measurement. We do recommend installing the 3 1/4 x 1/16 o-ring under the top cover.

New bearing readings are
6 to 10 inch pounds.

Used bearing readings are
2 to 4 inch pounds.

The tool is 10 inches long. It has 13 teeth on the driven gear end and a 3/4 hex on the torque wrench end.
