Vent & Drain Hole Repair Kit

This repair kit is used for repairing stripped out 3/8-16 vent & drain plug holes in the outdrive. It is recommended to run a 25/64 drill thru the hole before taping. The drill is not included with the kit.

It is best to have the housing disassembled before installing this kit to avoid getting metal chips in the outdrive oil. The tang which is used to install these inserts should also be removed from the inside of the housing after installation.

A stripped out 3/8 hole is .375 diameter.
A 25/64 drill is .390 diameter.

This kit includes :

	(1) 3/8-16 Heli-coil tap
	(12) Stainless Steel Inserts ( 1/2 long )
	(1) Installation Tool

Hinge Pin Hole Repair Kit

This repair kit is used for repairing stripped out 5/8-18 hinge pin holes in the side of all MerCruiser bell housings made after 1970. It is recommended to run a 41/64 drill thru the hole before taping. The drill is not included with the kit.

The bell housing must be removed or at least pulled back away from the gimbal ring to make the repair because the Blue Prewinder will need to make contact against the side of the bell housing to start the inserts. The u-joint bellows does not have to be removed if you place a piece of sheet metal behind the hole to prevent running the drill and tap into it.

A stripped out 5/8 hole is .625 diameter.
A 41/64 drill is .640 diameter.

	(6) Stainless Steel Inserts ( 15/16 long )
	(1) Installation Tool
	(1) Blue Prewinder

The drill in not included with this kit.

It is 6 inches long and has a turned down 1/2 shank.
