1962 - 1965 Gimbal Ring

This is a New MerCruiser # 78293A1 gimbal ring. It replaces 32505, 34285 & 38003A2. It will only fit #I, #II, 1A, 1B, 1C 1962 - 1965 drives which have pull hinge pins. You cannot use the newer style gimbal ring in place of this one because of the distance in-between the 2 ears on this gimbal ring is 7 1/16 wide.

Please note that this gimbal ring uses (2) short shock absorbers and does not use any trim or tilt cylinders.

All gimbal rings come directly from MerCruiser.

Note ! The trim limit switch which is located on the top, in front of the upper swivel shaft, is no longer available from MerCruiser.

This gimbal ring comes only with the lower needle bearings and seals installed.

This is MerCruiser # 32582 upper swivel shaft. It will only fit 1962 - 1975 gimbal rings which have pull hinge pins ( shown above ).

This shaft cannot be removed from the gimbal housing until the (1) cross bolt is removed from the steering arm and the (1) 5/16 - 18 Allen head cross bolt is removed from the starboard side of the gimbal ring.
