Upper Shift Shafts

These upper shift shafts fit into the bell housing on Pre-Alpha, Alpha One and Generation II drives.

1968 - 1990 Pre-Alpha & Alpha One

This upper shift shaft is MerCruiser p/n 45589A3. It is held in place with a set screw which is threaded thru the upper shift lever. The set screw is tapered and spreads the top of this shaft to made it a tight fit to the upper shift lever. This is all stainless steel.

It will fit Pre-Alpha and Alpha One drives made from 1968 - 1990.

It will not fit Bravo, TR, TRS and Generation II drives made after 1991.

1991 - Date Generation II

This upper shift shaft is MerCruiser p/n 816685. It is held in place with a set screw which is threaded thru the upper shift lever. The set screw is tapered and spreads the top of this shaft to made it a tight fit to the upper shift lever. This is all stainless steel.

It will fit Alpha One/Generation II drives made from 1991 - Date.

It will not fit Bravo, TR, TRS, Pre-Alpha or Alpha One drives.
